We begin producing kelp seed in mid-September and will have it ready for pickup between October 31 and November 30. To meet this timeframe, orders for kelp species must be received no later than September 1. For non-kelp species, we recommend contacting us by August 1.

Sugar and skinny kelp seed start at $1.00 per foot for the 2026 fall season and are grown on either 500′ or 333′ spools. Customizations may incur additional costs. Customizations include but are not limited to:

• Organic seed of any kind. The SCC is MOFGA-certified.
• Special collections of parental material from a preferred area.
• Other species. We offer seed for Alaria esculenta, dulse (Palmaria palmata), and sea lettuce (Ulva species). These all vary in price. We are happy to work with you to grow any other species native to your area.
